In practice many applications of the sutras many be learned and combined to solve actual problems.  The term ‘Vedic’ came from a Sanskrit word ‘Veda’, that means ‘Knowledge’. And, Vedic Math is a super collection of sutras or principals to solve math problems faster and easily.

Vedics Maths Tricks and Calculations

Here are some Calculations and Tricks with Vedic Maths are given. The following examples of simple application of the sutras to give feel for how Vedic Maths system works.

Subtraction when zeros equals to figures

(a) 1000-357=643} for this we subtract each figure of (357) by 9 and the last figure by 10.

i.e.          3             5             7

1             1             1

by 9      by 9      by 10      ⇒ 1000 -357 = 643

6             4             3

This always works for subtractions from numbers consisting of a I followed by zeros, i.e. 100, 1000, 10000. Etc.

(b) 10,000 – 1094

i.e.          1             0             4             9

by 9      by 9       by 9      by 10            ⇒ 10000 – 1049 = 8951.

8             9            9             1

When zeros are removed in the figure

(a) 1000 – 84 = 916} for this we simply take 84 as 084

i.e. 1000 – 84 = 1000 – 084

&

0             8             4

1              1              1

by 9      by 9      by 10                ⇒ 1000 -84 = 916

9             1             6

(b) Addition and Subtraction in Fraction

(i) 2/3+1/5=13/15  for this we simply crosswise and add to get the top of the R.H.S. 2×4+3×1 = 15.

R.H.S. e.i. 2×5+3×1 = 15.

(ii) 5/7 + 3/4 = 5×4+7×3/7×3 = 20+21/28 = 41/28
